På forumet Talkawhile var folk - då omslagsbilden presenterades i december - galet upprörda.
Så anskrämligt fult.
Nu har vinden vänt. IRL var omslaget rätt ok.
Och desto viktigare; skivan är riktigt lyckad!
(...som vanligt aning för mesigt producerad men live utsökt.)

Isn't that often the case though as songs get 'played in' more & more on stage.
The same thing struck me with a few of RT's recent albums - much as I'd enjoyed 'Electric' the songs came over much better live on the subsequent tour.
'Myths & Heroes' though, for me, is the best album by the current Fairport line-up. They've all had their moments but this one, from start to finish, doesn't have a weak track.
Yes (as many people have said earlier in this thread) the cover is hellish but the disc inside is a gem.

”As is traditional, Fairport Convention will play on Thursday with a short welcoming set by the band's semi-acoustic line-up to open the festival, and celebrate their fifty years with a three hour marathon performance to close the festival on Saturday.
Joined on stage by former members and guests, their set will feature the very best from half a century of musicmaking.

There will be two chances to see Fairport Convention co-founder Richard Thompson. He will play a full set in his own right on Friday then join Fairport on Saturday evening. Saturday's afternoon programme will start with a triple bill of performances from 'early years' former members of Fairport – Ashley Hutchings Morris On, Judy Dyble with Band of Perfect Strangers, and Iain Matthews with Plainsong - as part of the anniversary celebration.

Cropredy will also present a set by the winner of the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award on Friday.”

Och så kommer de till Nefertiti i Gbg med 50-årsshowen också.

Och nu denna augustivecka är det den där megabautagrejen i Cropredy med 3-timmarskonserten med alla nuvarande o tidigare medlemmar + solokonserter med Judy Dyble, Iain Matthews, Richard Thompson, Ashley Hutchings, Maartin Allcock och deras respektive band.

Coolt!
Fairport Conventions traditionella wintour kryddas lite extra vid tre datum då deras gode vän Robert Plant bett att få vara förband, och det är inga stora arenor det handlar om när det handlar om Fairport Convention.
Dave Pegg skriver nu på hemsidan:

"Our dear friend Robert Plant has a lovely new band called Saving Grace. He asked us if we could help by having them play some gigs on our current tour. We have tried to keep the 3 dates they are doing with us “hushed up” but the worst kept secret of 2019 is out now and we are letting Fairport Fans get in quick with obtaining tickets.

Basingstoke 14 Feb, Bath 16 Feb and St Albans 22 Feb are the 3 dates. Do join us!

It’s the 40th anniversary of Cropredy and Led Zeppelin's Knebworth gigs this year and it’s nice of Robert and the band to join us for these 3 dates, we know you are in for a real treat but advise buying your tix a.s.a.p. See our gig page.
